The first time I went to Candlewood I went simply out of curiosity because services were being held in my old high school. I was only going to go once just to check it out but my heart drastically changed when I heard the message of Christ's salvation shared so clearly in the most simple yet beautiful way. That was 8 years ago and I can honestly say that the messages of God's grace, love, mercy, compassion, and justice only continue to become more real in my life through the messages, worship, small groups, and people. Candlewood church is not a perfect church, but it is a church that is passionate about pursuing a relationship with our perfect God.
This church is not for the faint of heart. Your faith will be shown for what it is. Many times you will find it lacking or courageously depending on Jesus - as our forgiver, he gives abundant chances to perfect our loyalty to him. You will learn quickly to think on your own or gloomily follow in the patterns of a daily christian: read, pray, do what your pastors say. Since no church is perfect, it is better to test it before you commit to it. A few of the things that have kept me committed to Candlewood include: a biblical viewpoint on how individuals receive forgiveness of sins, a genuine picture of love we should have for one another, and a constant reminder of how we must be devoted to God in all areas of our life. All things that occur in the church beyond what is scriptural and commanded by Jesus is simply there to provide members extra opportunities to grow in their faith if they so choose to. Remembering these things will keep you from becoming burned out from doing too much for the sake of doing much or doing too much for ill-gotten gain.
I started going to this church when I was 19. I am now 30! I have made so many wonderful friendships here and have been challenged to grow in my faith every Sunday. I love the coffee and donuts too. Major bonus :) Since day 1, I have always felt welcome!
I used to go to Candlewood when I was little. And coming back to Church was amazing. Everyone has been really friendly.
