Love this place. It's very neatly managed and maintained. I have learnt so much about European, Asian and American art. Some of the exhibits would mesmerize everyone. If you plan to go there make sure you spend enough time to go through all of the art as there is plenty.

For some reason there’s literally a punch bowl in a glass case. It’s a very pretty punch bowl. However I’m not sure why a punch bowl needs to be on display in what is trying to be a fine art museum. There is an entire ocean between decorative arts and fine art. Fine art does not include punch bowls. Unless they are offering punch to visitors that punch bowl needs to go in storage.

Very cool building from the 30s. Decent art on display.

The staff were very friendly and helped me and my family

It’s weird because if you go to a big city or a small town museum employees and volunteers are really happy to share art with visitors. They smile and talk with you about the art and share their own knowledge about the pieces. It’s always a mid level place like the Joslyn where you deal with sour attitudes.

The Native American collection is the highlight of the museum and the most well put together and cohesive part of the museum. It’s the most organic and inviting part of the museum.

The exhibition itself was an okay collection of artist drawings but it was definitely a hodgepodge, like the rest of the museum, that of course had to include at least one local artist who did not belong there. What sort of curator would put a Winslow Homer in the same room with a local artist of no prestige outside of Omaha?

The museum itself is a nice Art Deco building but it’s very forbidding and cold in design. The sculpture garden outside is the nicest part of the museum in part because the amateurish staff aren’t out there to stare at you. The sculpture garden is also well thought out with some really great pieces. Although the sculpture garden makes me realize how poorly and randomly sculpture is displayed inside.

The contemporary collection is pure putrid garbage. I don’t dislike contemporary art but it does require a certain taste level to put a collection of it together. Anyone walking into that gallery can clearly see the emperor has no clothes on. Any money spent on that collection was flushed down the toilet.

Except for the ladies in the gift shop the staff was very miserable and unfriendly. I had some employee shush me at an exhibit I paid to get in because another employee couldn’t hold the attention of the people she gave an alleged lecture to. The lecturer looked like some college girl reciting the information written on the walls. The staff collectively needs to smile and behave less like prison guards. I shouldn’t be surprised because art institutions is small places are always more than a little self important. Probably a bunch rich broads with art history degrees who are bored. I think they equate being snobby with being sophisticated.

Amazing programs and activities for kids! They have drawing stations set up, interactive displays, crafts and other toys for little ones. Best part, it's free

We went to see The Christmas Story and met Zach Ward and Scott Schwartz. This was a cancer transplant fund raiser for Childrens Hospital. Awesome guys who were a part of a classic movie there to help others. We also had a peak of the museum. We will be back to to indulge in the art. Just the aura of being there was amazing.

However the museum is free, which it should be.

Very nice exhibits. Amazing kids center that is very interactive for kids where you can make a movie, draw on screens, and have things for little ones. Would recommend going there if you are in the area. It's both an adult and kids art museum. Outside sculptures and pool for kids is good too. Very nice building architecture. Very friendly staff too.

The collection of European Old Masters is interesting not in the best way though. There’s no rhyme or reason to the way the galleries are arranged. Some nice things here and there but it’s not a tasteful collection on any level.
