Wohlner's used to be a lunch time favorite with delicious American dishes sure to leave you satisfied. Not sure why the menu changed but all the favorites have been replaced to low grade Chinese food. I thought I would at least give it a try and it was terrible, flavorless, and pricy. Not much of a lunch rush since the change. Hopefully they will consider bringing back the old favorites that we all loved so much especially the meatloaf & mac n cheese!
I work around the corner from Wohner's and would frequently get lunch. What was once a great deli and grill is now a gross Chinese food and sushi area. The sushi isn't bad, however, I do not eat fish. But the last time the veggies used were frozen still. Needless to say, I now avoid shopping here for anything.
I called before coming to make sure they would take a check and was told no problem so I proceeded to walk there do my shopping. At checkout I was looked up and down with skepticism. The teller even took my phone number and CALLED my phone to verify I gave them a good number. Checked my ID and everything. I work at Mutual of Omaha and come to this store once or twice a DAY. My check is from Mutual of Omaha who I bank with. The person who helped me is an older, tall man with darker hair and unkempt beard who I haven't seen often because he works nights. Needless to say, I was mortified when I was told he CHOSE not to accept my check. This is discrimination as I know they will accept checks for payment. Steer clear of this place unless you enjoy being looked down upon. I do not have a problem paying more for good customer service but not to be treated this way. NOT HAPPY.
Good selection. Wouldn't be a place to "stock up". But for my weekly menu it suits me well. Gotta watch their prices on some things but their sale prices are very competitive. Meat selection is excellent. Like the small store " feel". Staff are very friendly and personable. For me living in MidTown Omaha it works very well for me.
Best little grocery store I've been to. The beef chicken and pork from the butcher shop is all I will buy when I want the best flavor to come from the dish I made. Parking is safe, covered, and here's the best part..... its FREE!!
